Though we focus on comprehensive dentistry, our work is based on principles of excellent oral health. Our approach to general dentistry focuses on wellness and prevention. We begin by assessing your overall health, as well as that of your teeth, gums, jaw and mouth. Then, we’ll recommend a treatment plan to address immediate and long-term issues.
In addition to preventive dentistry, we have the capabilities to take care of any restorative or cosmetic dental needs that may arise. Early intervention can help you avoid more costly procedures down the road, but we are also capable of providing complex treatment options such as crowns, implants or complete reconstruction.

For patients requiring extensive treatment or major cosmetic changes, we will perform a more comprehensive exam. Depending on your needs, we will provide additional dental x-rays, photos, plaster models and other diagnostic procedures that go beyond what you might expect from a routine dental exam.

Before any work begins, each patient receives a thorough examination and health assessment. This typically includes digital x-rays and a complete survey and charting of your teeth, including cavities, restorations and missing teeth. Regular professional cleanings are essential for maintaining the health of the teeth and gums. Plus, after a cleaning, you’ll enjoy smoother teeth and fresher breath, which can help you feel better, too.

Ultrasonic technology lets us perform even the most difficult cleanings thoroughly and comfortably. The device uses gentle, high-frequency sound waves to create a vibration (called cavitation) that removes heavy deposits and debris comfortably and thoroughly, with much less scraping. Regular professional cleanings are essential for maintaining the health of the teeth and gums. Dental sealants are plastic resins that bond and harden in the deep grooves on your tooth’s surface. When a tooth is sealed, the tiny grooves become smooth and are less likely to harbor plaque. With sealants, brushing your teeth becomes easier and more effective against tooth decay. Sealants are typically applied to children’s teeth as a preventive measure against tooth decay after the permanent teeth have erupted. However, adults can also receive sealants on healthy teeth. It is more common to seal “permanent” teeth rather than “baby” teeth, but every patient has unique needs, and we will recommend sealants on a case-by-case basis.

Fluoride is effective in preventing cavities and tooth decay and in preventing plaque from building up and hardening on the tooth’s surface. A fluoride treatment at Cosmo Dental takes just a few minutes. After the treatment, patients may be asked not to rinse, eat, or drink for at least 30 minutes in order to allow the teeth to absorb the fluoride. Depending on your oral health or your doctor’s recommendation, you may be required to have a fluoride treatment every three, six, or 12 months.

Whether you wear braces or not, protecting your smile while playing sports is essential. Mouthguards help protect your teeth and gums from injury

If you often wake up with jaw pain, earaches, or headaches, or if you find yourself clenching or grinding your teeth, you may have a common condition called “bruxism.” Many people do not even know that they grind their teeth, as it often occurs when one is sleeping. If not corrected, bruxism can lead to broken teeth, cracked teeth, or even tooth loss.
