Dr. Khervin Guitones, DMT, DHSc, DO (MT), PTRP, MOH

Dr. Khervin Guitones is a distinguished physical therapist with a specialized focus on Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) dysfunctions—an area often overlooked in traditional physical therapy but deeply impactful to patient quality of life.

He began his journey in healthcare with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Santo Tomas in 2014. His growing interest in occupational wellness led him to complete a Master’s in Occupational Health at the University of the Philippines Manila in 2018. Recognizing the complexity of musculoskeletal disorders, he pursued advanced training in manual therapy and earned his Doctor of Manual Therapy from the Ola Grimsby Institute in Washington in 2020. It was here that he deepened his specialization in TMJ dysfunctions.

Dr. Guitones’ path toward TMJ care was shaped by a pivotal moment during a dry needling training he was leading. A participating dentist inquired about TMJ-related cases—a conversation that sparked collaborative opportunities with dental professionals in Manila and opened a new chapter in his practice.

His commitment to professional excellence is further reflected in the honorary and academic distinctions he has received. In 2022, he was awarded a Doctor of Humanities by the Global Ministry and Discipleship Institute in Uganda, followed by a Doctor of Health Sciences from Saint James University, Pennsylvania in 2023. Most recently, in 2024, he was awarded a Diplomate in Osteopathic and Manipulative Therapy by the Osteopathic College of Ontario, enhancing his capabilities in integrative and patient-centered care for TMJ dysfunctions.

For Dr. Guitones, this career is both a passion and a purpose. He finds great fulfillment in treating patients who often fall outside the scope of conventional physical therapy. His work also allows for meaningful interprofessional collaboration—particularly with dental professionals—which continues to broaden his clinical insight and impact. Above all, he considers his work a calling, a way through which God allows him to bring healing and comfort to others.

When not in the clinic, Dr. Guitones serves as a faculty member at the College of Allied Medical Professions at the University of the Philippines Manila, where he mentors aspiring therapists and contributes to the advancement of physical therapy education in the country. In his free time, he enjoys quiet moments at home, playing with his dogs, cooking simple dishes, reading the Bible, praying, and relaxing with games on his phone or Nintendo Switch.
